Reenactment & Living History
Historical Reenactment
Historical reenactment is the activity in which a group of people get together to recreate a specific historical period, with particular emphasis on the bellicose aspect of the past. It usually involves utilizing authentic or accurate reproductions of the clothing, weaponry, tools and uniforms used, to recreate a specific battle or combat style. This is done both for the enjoyment of the reenactors themselves and as a demonstration with education and remembrance purposes for the general public.
Living history
The term living history describes the activity of bringing a particular historical period to life. This is usually done by creating an encampment or a space, containing only artifacts, goods and clothing of a specific period, all as historically accurate as possible. Groups go to great lengths to research authentic aspects of life in that period and do all they can to reproduce them as close to the original as possible. Some groups are so dedicated that museums and schools book them for special events. Most of the times the living history camps are open to the public, and are a fantastic spectacle; however in some rare instances they are for the sole enjoyment of the reenactors.
Both these activities are highly enjoyable and can suck you in a world of new friendships and actual genuine learning and betterment of yourself.
